C5x7 front window regulator failed

Ok, I realise this is is a long known c5 problem like the steering rack craziness but my front passenger window regulator has chucked in the towel.

I guess the cable is all rusted and it's jammed because at first it would not raise except in small stages. Got to almost closed and then it died. Now does not respond at all. No sound from the motor. Cannot physically pull it up that last bit either.

I was looking at the replacement regulator and they seem to come without the motor. Is that usual?

Is it worth searching further to try and get one that comes with the motor?

Fitted one years ago, came without a motor. Just swap it over. Paid about 45 euros from Autodoc

I've never known of a replacement window regulator (on any car?) that does come with the motor. They're always a separate item.

Not on the X7.

Mine went and Citro and don’t bother fiddling with the regulator. They just replaced the whole assembly which is a complete unit on the X7 however you can buy just the regulator.

Surely that was a choice made by the dealer to replace in entirety under warranty though, rather than because not available as sub-assemblies?
The aftermarket definitely supplies them separately.

Yes, that's what I said - the complete unit was done under warranty, but small motor is available separately. About £500 IIRC.

About a year later, the passenger one went too - and I just had the regulator changed - on account I didn't bother with renewing warranty at that time and sold it shortly after.

Autodoc list one with a motor. It costs a fair bit more as you might imagine though.

Thanks, well I ordered a replacement regulator already and hopefully the motor can be swapped. Although it makes no sound....

Hi all, after a short delay of the part being delivered to the wrong address ... I got the thing. Noticed the replacement regulator was quite different in detail to the outgoing one. Motor mounting part was different etc. All the various fixings etc did line up though and the motor swapped easy enough although the 3x screws needed a spacer added. Added extra grease but it all went back easily and now have functional window again that actually can be closed! Anyway thanks for the help as always.
