2019 1,2 litre Citroen C5 Aircross Oil

Unread post by 3kidsinatrenchcoat »

My oil light is on. I need oil for my car.

I understand 5w30 is what it needs, the meaning of engine oil codes on this level I understand.

Checking Halfords enter your numberplate to see what oil you need thingy I get presented with this one:

https://www.halfords.com/motoring/engin ... lacement=2

Thats.... £85.... For a bottle of something.

Checking on a citroen dealers site and putting in my number plate I see a huge selection available, all significantly cheaper

https://www.arnoldclarkautoparts.com/co ... -id=GCCA93

Which I can't help but find suspicious.

Whats with all these extra codes? INEO, NFC, ECS.... all sorts of stuff.

Last time I put new oil in I was authoritively told by a random person in Halfords that the expensive one was the right one for this car. All others would break it.

...is this the case? Any insight into just what all this extra stuff means and if it would be OK to use one of the cheaper options?
