Re: Citroen c2
Does the car have ABS or no ABS?
Does the power steering feel normal?
Does it still count up miles as you drive?

ABS fault will be causing no show on the speedo.Juliano_1989 wrote: 27 Mar 2025, 20:28 I have loads of faults showing on the screen abs fault air bag etc and have eml and few others the car runs and drives fine.. any ideas![]()
Bad alternator or battery are the most likely culprit for all the lights and faults, but that's not 100%.
Power steering doesn't always fail with bad battery. But failure is a common symptom.
Starter a bit "funny" on startup?
I would get battery load tested WITH PROPER LOAD TESTER, NOT A MULTIMETER! Then check charging circuit.
DO NOT dismiss a "new" or nearly new battery or alternator as NOT being the problem!! Just because it's new, doesn't mean its good! Just being preemptive there.
Batteries last about 4 years. But if YOU were not the last one to buy the battery...be suspicious.

Re: Citroen c2
Car has abs a d no power sterring and the miles count up I don't think it's the battery as it shows 14v on multi meter when running and starts each time

Re: Citroen c2
All C2’s have power steering.
Is the ABS warning lamp on?
Think it will need to fo on some diagnostics to check live data from the ABS system.

Re: Citroen c2
Are you going to share the faults that came up when you plugged it in??
Did you happen to read any live data of the ABS system? Eg wheel speeds.
If lots of communication faults id be disconnecting the ABS, engine ECU connection & the under bonnet fusebox to check for water ingress.

Spider senses tell me that you haven't owned this car for very long at all. Driving a C2 without power steering for any length of time would become very annoying. Or you don't realize that it actually has power steering. Is the steering heavy or not?Juliano_1989 wrote: 28 Mar 2025, 04:14 Car has abs a d no power sterring and the miles count up I don't think it's the battery as it shows 14v on multi meter when running and starts each time
14V when the engine is running only proves that the alternator is working. AGAIN, that's why I said; DON'T USE A MULTIMETER , use a load tester(on the battery)!
LACK of power steering is a symptom of a bad battery. It doesn't happen all the time but it does happen.
FOR THE LAST TIME, get the battery LOAD TESTED. It's quick, simple and shouldn't cost you anything if you need to buy a new battery.
Thinking wont eliminate a fault...testing will.
It seems counterintuitive that the battery can cause all these faults, BUT IT CAN. On startup, a bad battery will still turn the starter over BUT the supply voltages to the various control units will dip below their operating voltages and the system stops working CORRECTLY. Even though the voltage comes back up to the 14 odd volts when the engine starts, the "damage" is done, figuratively speaking. The ECU's will complain that something went wrong and that's that! The ECU's expect the system to operate a certain way, and if it doesn't, boy do they complain!
I am NOT saying that the battery is the ONLY thing that can cause these faults, but the battery MUST be eliminated as a potential cause. And it's it's right at the top of the list of potential suspects!
If it's not the battery, fine, move on to the next potential cause of failure. But the battery is the easiest, simplest and quickest thing to test.

Re: Citroen c2
Think you are going to need to start checking power supplies & earths at the ABS ECU.
Do you have the VIN so we can get a wiring diagram?
