Visa GTi - crazy money

Yes it’s rare, but look at the state of it.
Doesn’t have the time or facilities to break it, but then also won’t take less than £1k for selling it…
Make it make sense? 8-[

Gosh!

Against that, 'He knows what he's got...' A common refrain when little more a V5C and a VIN plate attached to a lump of corrosion is offered for sale...

That price is a reflection of the engine/transmission value I think....

Yes, potentially as it will be the early 1.6GTi XU5 with 105 bhp rather than the 115bhp of the later ones... Gearbox will likely be the rare'ish BE1 with the lift-up reverse interlock.

Most of those were replaced by the BE3 when the 2/3rd synchro wore out.

Looking at the state of things under the bonnet, it'll take some considerable recommissioning. If the coolant was not up to strength and it's ever frozen then the block may be cracked. It is a common problem and how I got my erstwhile red 205 GTi for peanuts... The engine was damaged beyond repair.

And I'll wager the exhaust manifold is cracked...

Says it's a 115 on the side....

I can't see that's worth more than scrap value, I doubt there's a better than evens chance the engine is any good!

If he made the effort to clean it up he might do ok, a day with the pressure washer and valet kit would make it much more desirable. :)
