C5 mk2 seat padding repair experience?

Unread post by adotam »

Hi, newbie here, recently aquired an '05 C5 Exclusive with heated cloth electric seats.

Car is overall pretty good for its age, but the foam of the front seats feels hard on pressing it, and while moving around in the seat, I managed to push my elbow way into the backrest (with relatively little force), and the metal bracket cut through the cloth... nightmare. Even the bottom parts of the seats are mostly OK, not collapsed (yet).

Does anyone have experience with repairing/replacing the foam of the seats at a good car upholstery place? Is it possible to do?

I've read here this is a common issue, and new replacements are not really available.
Looking for a set of used seats would also result in a set of 20+ years old foams, I don't think that would help in any way.

Thanks,

Obviously too far from you but do you not have a similar company close to home?

Sure, I'm just wondering if anyone has done this before, and whether it's possible to keep the original fabric this way.
