C5 Aircross: Battery replacement procedure

Unread post by JimmyTulip »

Hello :wave2: ,

I have a C5 Aircross from 2019 with the 2.0 BlueHDI 180 engine. (Shine-Pack, EAT-8, Keyless Ignition, Start-Stop, ...)

VIN: VR7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]

I am pretty sure, that my cars battery is faulty.
I think it is still the first battery (6 years old) and I will replace it.

Here is a photo of the battery in the car:

I have compared some battery-models and I will go for the Varta Blue Dynamic EFB (570 500 076), which has the same specs as the OEM-battery:

However - I am looking for information on the procedure to replace the battery. :help2:

Basically Diagbox is available, although I do not have much experience/know-how on it.

When I get the replacement battery I will fully charge it over night on the bench.

I am aware, that there is a procedure on battery disconnection that help ensure several that the ECUs have time to write their data back before the power is disconnected and avoid electrical issues when replacing the battery. (https://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/ ... 51&t=61997)

What is the concrete procedure after the new battery hardware is placed in the engine bay and connected up?

Do I have to tell the car somehow with Diagbox, that a new battery has been installed?
Do I have to change any parameters with Diagbox? (I will try to get a screenshot of the battery-information in Diagbox beforehand ...)

I did read a thread here, that after the new battery is installed it has to be waited ~4 hours without touching anything for calibration or similar, but I can't find the thread anymore. I am not sure, if it apllies to my car though ...

Thank you very much for your support!

If the new battery is exactly the same spec as the old battery (and assuming the old battery is the correct spec for the car!) then the type will already be coded in and no intervention with a Diagbox is necessary.
As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.

Inside every old person is a young person wondering what the hell happened.

Hello,

Yes, I thought so. However, while I am waiting for the new battery to arrive, I fired up Diagbox today to retrieve this battery-coding-information.
Unfortunately I was NOT able to find the information I was looking for. (coding of battery-type, etc.)
I was only able to see the following battery-related information until the battery went flat again and diagnosis stopped working:
Battery#1.jpg
Battery#2.jpg
I am still looking for the following answers:
  • Where in Diagbox do I find the battery-coding-info? (battery-type, etc.)
  • Do I have to tell the car somehow with Diagbox, that a new battery has been installed?
  • Is there still a procedure to follow after I place the new battery in like waiting 4 hours without touching anything for calibration or similar?
Thank you
