Hi guys,
I got issue with power steering - it doesn't work.
Once I went to 80miles trip and when I started car to go home, it showed power steering fault. I went to home with the issue.. I have 3x DTCs P0606 - PCM module fault; P0562 - system voltage low; C1406 - Pending fault. Do you have experience with such situation?
I charged 12V battery, it didn't help, car start at first try always. Can be 12V battery the issue? After several tries and one short drive the car started with working power steering. I've been told that it can be harness issue, some connection or rust.. Can you advise me how to get to power steering unit without removing front subframe? Thanks for any help..

Re: Power steering fault - doesn't work
What is the battery voltage with the engine running while the fault is present? Low battery voltage due to a charging fault can cause the power steering to shut off.
If you clear the fault codes, do they come back immediately?

Re: Power steering fault - doesn't work
I charged battery and I measured 14.8V with running engine.. Not sure if I tried to clear them TBH, I have just very low base DTV reader, but when I start engine, dashboard showing nothing, once I turn with steering wheel, the error message come up.. This happen every start except last ones where error didn't appear and power steering work well..

How old is the battery ? What is the battery voltage before the car is started first thing on a day ? Also what does it drop to as the car starts ?

Re: Power steering fault - doesn't work
I am surprised your car starts at only 12.06 volts, anything below about 12.5 volts is a flat battery, should be 12.7 volts if fully charged. 14.6 volts with the engine running shows the alternator is ok.
If you do not want to get a new battery you could charge the old one up and make sure before starting first thing it is still fully charged and then see what happens but at 9 years old it has lasted a lot longer than most.
I would not look at other things until the battery is sorted.

... remember that the voltage is not indication of battery health. Over time cell capacity is degraded and this has a knock on effect to systems.

Really thanks for your thoughts.. I'll go for new battery, 9 years is for AGM battery quite long time.. I'll feedback once I'll have it installed, thanks so far..
