Evening all,
Last night I was driving on a dual carriageway when my 2018 Grand C4 Spacetourer 1.5 Blue HDI suddenly made a bit of a funny noise. A check engine warning came on and the car cut out - pretty scary on such a busy road!
The car wouldn't start when I got pulled over. At the time the fuel level was low so I was worried I might have run out of diesel so I walked to the garage and got fuel but alas the car still wouldn't start. I got the car recovered back to my place and put £20 diesel in it on the way just to make sure it had enough fuel and cycled the ignition lots of times. Still no luck.
This morning I put it on Diagbox and found codes P02ED and P00BC stored in the Engine management ECU. Details of the parameters when these codes appeared are attached as a picture.
Can anybody shed some light on what the issue might be?
Thanks!

Re: Grand C4 Spacetourer won't start - codes Po2ED and P00BC
Unfortunately with sudden cut out on this engine the first candidate has to be failure of the cam chain in the head. I don't know if you can see the cams through the oil filler, but that is where I would look. The inlet cam is at the back driven by the chain and if that has stopped going round then you will have no air flow. I also don't know if these have vertical valves like the 8vs and therefore get away with breaking the rockers, or if this is a head off job. Sorry to be the bearer (probably) of bad news....

Fingers crossed it is salvageable

If the cam chain has broken and if it has been Citroen dealer serviced then it might be a job for them with a contribution from Citroen.

Just an update for people who may face the same issue...
Richard was correct, the timing chain had snapped.
Fortunately there was no damage to the valves or combustion chamber so it only required the cam shaft and chain kit.
£1700 later and the car is back on the road. No contribution from Citroen as the car didn't have a full service history.

That's sort of good to hear - in that at least it doesn't write the head / engine off - still a painful experience in the wallet department....
