Well, with the weather in NE Ohio finally starting to seem more like Spring, it's looking like my recently-acquired 306 Cabrio can finally, eventually, venture out of the garage. Plans are for a complete (and I do mean COMPLETE) fluid bleed-out and change, a new battery, and a trip to the local detail shop, to let them work their magic. I put the charger on the battery the other day, which produced nothing. It's shot, and I suspect probably the original battery from 1998. So, here's my dilemma: My Cabrio was imported to the States under the 25-year rule (just beyond the "Grey Market" period) from Japan. Right-hand drive, all the under hood warning stickers, advice and, instructions in Japanese....and then there's the battery. A very nice-looking (dead) Bosch PSIN-6C that apparently no one here in the States is familiar with. I'm thinking Japan-only. So I need an SAE/BCI equivalent to that unit, as I'm not about to source (and pay for) a battery to be sent from Japan. So, I did the measurements, and came up with the possible substitution being a Group 47 battery. Close seconds are a Group 42 or a Group 90 (both being a bit too short, but they'll work with some creative shimming).
So......has anyone run into my issues? Am I correct in looking at the Group 47? Is there another battery I may have missed that's a better fit? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
DW
