Hydralic suspension

Unread post by gustav »

Hi!
I am now making a new attempt at my thoughts about my hydraulic suspension on my c5 2.2 automatic -2014.

In a previous post I wrote that the car's suspension was hard on the left front. I now experience after driving the car for a couple of weeks that the suspension system can also be felt hard on the rear wheels after driving over road obstacles. When I drive at slow speed over road obstacles, the car feels soft and nice, normal, but not at higher speeds. The car then becomes hard both rear and front. About the same feeling as when the car is raised in a high position.

I have run the procedure for bleeding the system and I discovered at the same time that there was a little too much hydraulic fluid, which I fixed. I think I experience a small improvement after this but the symptoms are still there.

The thing is that the car had been standing still in a container for 18 months before I bought it. The seller had problems getting the car up to normal position after the time in the container.

What could be wrong? How can you diagnose?
I haven't bought a diagbox, yet.... :)

This is how the HA3+ system works.
The front axe have 3 spheres and rear ax have 4 when you drive over a bump the extra ones are shut off by the system, this depends of several things, the speed, height of the bump, steering angel/speed, then you have only the 4 corner spheres left and therefore a hard suspension.
Greeting,
Kees.

Ok! However, I feel that it is not normal. My previous c5 had a different behavior. There the suspension could become hard if you drove over potholes at too high a speed. With my new car this can also occur on the highway when there is a dip in the road. My previous c5 handled these dips in a soft and pleasant way

You didn't say, what your previous type was.
The C5 X7 is well-known that he is not smooth as the C51 and 2 types.
You can find post from me on this forum how I changed the system.
Greeting,
Kees.

Oke, well as i say before when the system switched to stiff, because of the road surface, then you have only the corner spheres working.
So you should check the pressure of them.

Ok! What is the procedure for checking the pressure of a sphere?

Remove the spring ball and check the tare pressure with a suitable tool.
There are professional devices for this and also well-suited self-made test devices.

No, sorry it's not possible to do this with the diagbox,
Look at the answer from cit-rotti.
If it's not possible, Citroën advise to replace the sphere after 10 years.
Greeting,
Kees.

You need a device like this....

My advice is join your Swedish Citroen Car Club, many of the members will have these in their own garage....l it is common for the DIY Citroen owner to have one.

The original device had the number Citroën spring ball tester 4135-T - you can still buy it occasionally, it is handy and transportable.
But you can also build it yourself - information and tips:
