C4 Picasso ESP / ASR fault

Hi...
I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction as I have lost the thread whilst looking online.
But I have a 2014 C4 grand picasso 1.6 hdi Automatic.
And since owning the car I keep getting (especially if it's a damp morning) the ESP/ASR Fault light comes up.
Where's the first place to start looking to resolve this please?
I remember someone saying check connections,but where are all the points of connection relating to this?
I'm not a mechanic but have always managed to overcome most issues with my cars in the past with a little nudge from well minded people like yourselfs
Any help and guidance will be welcome with open arms!

Do you only get this light? These have a common problem that the wiring to the rear ABS sensors rubs through on the trunking and then shorts out when it gets damp. Usually this gives a whole host of errors, but I think is likely the cause of your issue. If you can get it on a diag machine it will point at the offending corner, but if not, you could pull the wires out of the trunking and look for a green crusty spot - it may well be small!

Yes I do get other warnings like Handbrake/brakes but every day it's the main one I mentioned in original post.
Recently I have had the engine management light comes on and it failed the MOT for this!
The garage said they put it on Diagnostic machine and apparently it's the EGR valve which is the issue there.
They cleared the light for a while that day so it passed MOT but now it's back!
I just want all these issues to be dealt with now as it's sooooo annoying every time you drive. But more importantly I want to address any issues and not brush them under the carpet.

Where is all this wiring located,so I can inspect it please?

You could also check the battery voltage. I had this on our C5 when it was low but did not happen again once charged up.

Sadly the battery is very new,so it's not this either

New or not, it is the voltage you need to check. Before the first start of the day if fully charged it should be about 12.7 volts, below about 12.5 volts and it needs charging.

Sorry but you have lost me
Forgive my ignorance,but if it's a new battery which I have paid for an expensive one... surely it should keep it's charge??
I shouldn't need to charge a battery on a daily basis should I?
If so,what is the best way to do this please?

Batteries can often come somewhat depleted from new. Always best to give them a top up charge before fitting.

It will happily charge back up on a 15 min run, or a blast on the Military Road.

Engine faults can cause the handbrake etc lights to come on - really you need to scan it to see what it is upset about. But, if it comes on when it's wet that's a good indicator you have a wiring problem. With the wheel off you can see the trunking running along the rear arm to the ABS sensor, easy enough to remove the tape and pull the wires out. You might be looking for a very small spot, this was ours last year, duff spot is between my finger and thumb at the corner of the nail!

And yes that Military road is the only place where I can give it a good run! Not sure when you were last over but most of it is new tarmac so not as bumpy anymore

Oh..just put of interest,how did you repair that damage on insulation of cable??
(Just incase I find a similar damage)

I had to cut the wire and put a crimp connector in - I thought it was just an exposed spot and scraped it clean, then taped it up, but this resulted in a permanent fault, and when I looked again I had scraped all the copper out - it's a very thin wire!
