Citroën C4 Grand Picasso fault codes P1032, P1033, P1038, P1039

Unread post by Milkyway »

I've got a Citroën C4 Grand Picasso which appears to be running fine but the engine warning and service lights are on and the diagnostics report flags up fault codes P1032, P1033, P1038 and P1039. The Citroën dealership says the only thing to do is replace the engine, which isn't worth it for a 16 reg. A local garage suggested replacing the spark plugs. Is that worth it and is there anything else we can try? The wet belt was replaced in October 2024 so it's not that, but the car did run out of oil (with no warning) in September so it may be engine damage from that coming home to roost.

Welcome

That's not looking good... 1.2 Puretech presumably? Has it been using oil?

Yep, 1.2 Puretech. It must have been getting through oil to run dry 9 months after its service.

Also, our Citroën garage did a compression test and all 3 cylinders were at 7 bar, with the minimum requirement being 9 bar.
