2024 Model Year C4 - Navigation System Queries

This is the Connected NAV system.
Main Features: It is a fully integrated Telematics System featuring CarPlay, Android Auto, Real Time Services, Voice Commands, High-Res Display, 3D Navigation, Bluetooth Hands Free & USB. 2 versions of the system are available NAC (Navigation Audio Connectée) and RCC (Radio Couleur Connectée) or Connected Colour Radio, which does not have the Integrated Navigation or Live Services.

2024 Model Year C4 - Navigation System Queries

Unread post by P_P_Power »

I have owned a new C4 from mid 2024 and still unsure as to how the inbuilt Navigation System updates itself. (I believe it uses the Tom Tom system). After some perusal of the Navigation Menu structure I can see that at the present time the Navigation System Application Version is: 16.30.4+PI25.5 and it has the following mapping installed: "44749 Europe", which it states was released in 10/2020, and last updated in 02/2025, so last month.
This presumably updated using OTA automatically as I do not recall seeing any on screen prompts regarding Navigation Updates.

The latest Infotainment System update, Version AHW.1.25.97.10, installed during February this year, with an on screen notification implying this was a Performance Update.

So my query is does the Navigation System always update without triggering any sort of on screen notification(s), and if so, does it download and install without any driver intervention ? Also is it possible to see any sort of change log which details the changes made to the system after the update. I ask this because recently the Navigation System has decided it is necessary to leave a motorway, at a junction slip road, navigate around the junction roundabout, and then rejoin the motorway via the joining sliproad, heading in the original direction !, which seems totally crazy. I actually ignored the Nav prompts, and stayed on the motorway and carried on in my intended direction without any traffic or other issues at that particular junction. So why did the Navigation System decide it was necessary to leave and rejoin at the same junction ?

So far this has happened at the same couple of motorway junctions on different journeys. Sorry for such a long post but maybe other members have experienced something similar. Any answers/views most welcome.

You have an IVI infotainment system. It has OTA updates, but it needs a Wi-Fi connection to download large ones. There are no changelogs...

What you've experienced with the navigation might have been a low-precision error. If the location was a few meters off, and there was a parallel road nearby, the system might have presumed you were on that parallel road, hence the crazy route.

Thanks Rui for your reply. Your mention of requiring a Wi-Fi connection to download large updates, presumably mapping data etc., begs the question.... Should the check box against "Allow automatic downloads of updates using external Wi-Fi network" be ticked ?".

This setting is apparent on the Settings - Updates screen. It is currently unchecked, i.e. not ticked, in my car, and I presume that this is how the vehicle came when handed over from new. However my Mapping states it has been updated last month, (automatically I presume), so what would you say this Wi-Fi setting is for exactly ? (Rui, No problem if you can't clarify this any further). Thank you.

Yes, you should tick that box to update the full map. Just like the connected services, the car only receives information relevant to its location - without that WiFi connection, you only receive local map updates.

Again thanks Rui. Checked the box and within seconds a list of available Wi-Fi networks were displayed including my own secure home network. So I guess I can connect accordingly in line with the owners manual guidance. At least I'm clear on the whole Wi-Fi thing now, Cheers.
