Citroën c4 1.6 hdi almost starts

Unread post by axeljansssonn »

Hi just bought a 2011 citroën c4 mk2 1.6 hdi
Car wont start just cranks and almost starts.
It just cranks and "coughts", sometimes it starts but dies after one second.
I have fault code P3007
New battery and glow plugs. Timing belt was changed about 15 months ago. I have about 300 bar fuel pressure upon cranking and battery is fully charged. 1/4 tank of diesel.
I will try clean egr pipe and valve and change fuel filter.

I dont know much about these engines but for me it feels like a fuel issue maybe a injector?
Code says air flow low and i have read online it could be a egr issue but that should not prevent the car from starting.

If you have any ideas or tips please share with me.

If the EGR is stuck wide open it can swamp the engine with exhaust gas and prevent it starting. Can you read live data, what does it say about the EGR position?

This is the later 8V DV6C engine, which has a different EGR valve, but the problem is the same!

Sounds like egr, I've had this with my c3 picasso, but beware sometimes false positives, pop the egr out clean it and the pipe work to it , if you can get the injectors out clean them too,

MAF also , check the elements as they can burn out ive also read & heard water in the fuel at some stations being reported less than a month ago, so might be worth changing your fuel filter, ive just sorted my 308 with the 1.6hdi, clean the injectors, oil & filter change , fuel filter replacement, seems much better , ive got issues regarding injector 2 but at the moment it's running much better than it was , I put £20 Asda fuel in about nearly a month ago , so I'm putting it down to that , was the first time using supermarket fuel & my last. I've still got the old fuel filter which I'm going to check the contents out when I have time to see what it reveals.

There's a chap on YouTube bodgit&legit garage, he did a video regarding egr stuff & dpf stuff, there's a pipe somewhere I'm trying to recall , I will pop the link up, anyway , this pipe had pin holes in it & due to this position of this part you dont see them till pipes removed , this once fixed made the car run much better, not sure if it would have any relevance to your issues , let me find the video.....
