C5X7 2014 2,2L HDi Electric Brake Faulty 😥

Unread post by ozzdownunder »

Hi,
I have issues with the electric brake system. When switching off the engine and parked in P the electric brake system is activated but this time it made a grinding noise from the actual system under the car. As I tried to deactivate it it became noisier as it locked on the rear brakes. I managed to use the emergency release in the center console and with a bit of force it released the brakes. I need to locate the actual fuse that supplies power to the E-brake actuator so it stops it from engaging every time I park and making things worse until I can get the problem resolved. But in the meantime I need the use of the car. The fuse box diagrams seems a bit confusing as to the actual fuse that I need to remove. Hence the question.

This will disable total operation of the handbrake, but you should be able to put the EPB into 'Manual Mode'. Access your dashboard LCD display menu options ('Vehicle parameters / Comfort / Auto Parking Brake".) using the thumbwheel controls and select the option to put it into manual mode, then it won't apply until you manually apply and release it.

Instruction in your handbook. However, if the menu option is not available, then it can be added back in via the dealer.

There is a 30A fuse (F9) that controls the EFB that is contained in a supplementary fuse box that is attached to the side of the main vehicle battery. It is not in the main engine fusebox.
