1.2 to 1.6 engine swap 6mt trans?

Unread post by Harrisds7 »

Hello guys I would like to make a question.i have a ds7 1.2 pure tech with manual 6mt. I love the car and I don’t want to change it with an another one but I want to upgrade the power.i don’t want to tune the 1.2 and I wonder if I can fit an 1.6 pure tech with the 6speed manual. I make a research and I saw that the 308 gti had the same 6mt with the 1.6 pure tech. So my question is does the mt really fits. Does the 1.6 will have any electronic problems;

Hi Harrisds7

I honestly think you should just buy another car with the bigger engine that you like. Cars nowadays are very complicated electronically and there are lots of other things to consider too with swapping engines. Also think about the insurance and resale value impact.

If it were the 1970s and you wanted to fit a 3.0 Essex V6 into your MK2 Cortina, well that's another (much easier) proposition altogether.. Don't think I'm being negative, I'm not, but I think you'd never see an end to the problems.

What tuning options are there for the 1.2 Puretech?

Please let us know what you decide.

Good luck

Hello, the tuning options are limited due to wet belt and oil consumption of the bad piston rings I think. I saw some interesting upgrades with full exhaust cold air intake intercooler and a hybrid turbo going to 190 ps. That’s an ok performance for me but the belt issues worries me. The 1.6 swap if it is possible I think unlocks a lot of tuning potentials(it’s not a car for tuning but I am feeling that it’s a 250 level of ps car).and last I don’t want to sell it for an other car because I like it a lot.
