Xantia (1993 td) cigarette socket NO Power

F16 is live
Earth to the socket is good
Light on the socket works (so earth is good)
No power to the red power lead on .... key OFF -- key AC -- car running
Connectors are good, wire seem fine.

Am I missing something ?

Broken wire or socket? Have you got a wiring diagram, is there a relay somewhere?

Not got diagrams for the 93 td....my 97 S1 Activa ones show no relay/socket fuse @F16/20amp

Socket is fine, earth is fine (the light works thus the earth is good as it earths via the body to the sockets earth wire/black), no volts on Multi-Meter when I probed the connector on the back of the plug or when disconnected etc.

I have removed the fuse @F16 / swapped it a number of times.

The live (red wire) feed is totally dead, the fuse (I assume the correct one) @ F16 is live when the key is in the Acc position and when the car is running.

All other fuses etc work/show volts/all probed

The wiring diagram indicates that F16 is the correct fuse. I suspect that you have a faulty fuse board, maybe a bent fuse contact, or maybe a bad soldered joint on the board.
Did you try inserting F16 in the other (permanent live) position?

Is it possibly one like the shunt on later cars where there are 2 positions, one is switched and one permanent live?

Not sure........wil look this morning ....BUT

There are never any volts ..... even when the car is running/no matter what key position.

Looks like a simple circuit. Pop the fuse out and check it's not blown. Check for 12v on the fuse box outlet connector (pin A7 of a 13 pin brown connector). Check for 12V at the socket connector. This will tell you if it's the fuse, fusebox, or wire and you can repair accordingly.

At the moment I am looking at a break/failure in the feed wire.....access is rather problematic for my big hands so finding where will be a pain (literality !)....with luck it has flexed close to the tray which will allow a joint to be added.....if not I will run a fly wire from a piggy back fuse and do the job when the dash comes out in the summer.
