Are you flushing and replacing or just topping up ?

If topping up you need to know what has been put in before (OAT does not mix well)....
If flush & replace, then a good wash out, 2 fills and drains, then replacing with either is fine

It should have had its timing belt and water pump replaced last year at 10 years old or earlier if it has a high mileage. If done at a garage you could do with asking them what they used but if a Citroen/DS dealer they will have used the Citroen own brand coolant so you could get it from a dealer.

One assumes that when doing the belt you will do the water pump at the same time (you really should), as such the water/coolant you have in there will be changed......as such just spec a good quality OAT based coolant and then stick to that from then on...there are many brands, no need top be particular about any brand.

If you are providing the parts to a garage to fit, it makes any guarantees a bit awkward, they will only guarantee the labour so if the parts fail it will be up to you to sort or prove a fault was due to the labour. It is up to you but I would use coolant from a Citroen dealer, then it will be the right type and I always get undiluted. Note that the recommended 10 year/ x miles replacement interval applies to Citroen parts, other brands could be different.

I've been there last year. Fortunately, I chose the dealer to do the timing belt and water pump even while it was more expensive. 2 weeks later I was loosing a lot of coolant through the new water pump. They recognized they just had another case, and that there was a faulty batch of water pumps. So they replaced it, again, free of charge.

I always go for the PSA original (blue) coolant, it's cheap, certified and readily available. If you need to top up and you don't know whats in there, only use deionized water to be safe.
