Lexia ECU config

Unread post by Speedhunter »

In Lexia, under the ECU configuration menu for my Citroën C2 VTS (ME7.4.5), there’s an option to switch between long gearbox and short gearbox.

I’m trying to figure out what exactly this setting changes. I’ve checked Citroën Service Box and even compared ECU flash files but couldn’t find any clear differences.

Does anyone know what this setting actually does? Could it change rev limits, torque calculations, or anything else? Any help would be appreciated!

Cheers all,

My guess is that the gearboxes have different ratios for different markets, and the ECU knows the ratios so that it can detect which gear is selected and detect issues like clutch slip.

Lets break it down. I did change configuration but haven't felt any changes. Further more as I'm fluent in ecu reading and calibration; I checked for changes in ecu rom/flash including "gear recognization function block" but everything is exact the same; so if it has something with ecu than its in the ram or register and for that i need to disasseble ecu software(takes a lot of time).

Lexia provides 0 insight what it does and Service box states short gearbox is for "brazil"...and for further info check some site link which I cannot acces.

It's not uncommon for vehicles destined for Mercosur countries to have different equipment.

Passenger Vehicles like the 206, C2 , C3 for example had their rear seats removed to allow for use as light commercial vehicles, so may be why they were fitted with shorter gearboxes, but I can't be 100% certain.

The PSA Cordoba plant in Argentina was used to manufacture gearboxes for PSA vehicles sold in South America - so again my be specific to this market.
