Hi everyone.
I have a 2007 Citroen C4 Grand Picasso VTR+ with a 2.0 hdi engine.
I have been having some issues with the car which is now stopping it from passing the MOT.
The following error messages are
ESP/ASR FAULT
ABS FAULT
HANDBREAKE FAULT
GEARBOX FAULT
DEPOLLUTION FAULT
I have tried the following
NEW BATTERY
NEW FUSES
REMOVED FUSE BOX TO CHECK FOR DAMPNESS
DISASSEMBLED THE PLATE THAT HAS ABS FUSE IN TO CHECK FOR CORROSION.
CHECKED WIRING LOOM.
Today I removed the passenger side ABS sensor only to find rust underneath it, also cleaned the magnetic ring. Cleared the codes took it for test drive and not even 15 seconds later the codes would reappear. When I turn the car off and on again the codes appear, but dissappear for a random period of time (within 5 minutes) before it reappears. Unable to change gear past 3rd either.
Am I wasting my time with the ABS sensors? As ive had mixed reviews of the egr valve know to cause the abs/esp etc.. warning lights.
TIA
Aaron

Re: 2007 Citroen C4GP nightmare
Welcome along.
It almost certainly is NOTHING to do with the braking system - the light show is just for effect / to annoy and mislead you!! What happens is that the engine ECU throws a code, this interrupts the engine speed dataflow to the ABS ECU which then throws its hands up in despair and puts all the lights on.
So, you have 2 faults for MAF and IAT (not sure why they appear 3 times) so this is most likely the source of the problem. Although these are integrated into the same unit, it seems unlikely that both have gone faulty (unless you have drowned it!), so you are probably looknig at a wiring fault, either loss of 5V reference or ground, or the plug is crusted up and shorting out between the various pins.
You also need to refill (*) the Eolys tank (probably a bag at this age) - but this shouldn't be putting the braking system lights on - it may put the engine light or, or cause an MOT fail if it says risk of filter blocking.
* - well, at least tell the computer it has been refilled to put the light out and get a ticket; it will do no harm for a short while, there is likely to be some left anyway.
