Central locking issue I think!

Unread post by Rekray1982 »

Good afternoon. I have an issue with my central locking on 2007/8 Mk1 Picasso. I don’t have a remote fob for it to check if it’s any different. My one key if I use it in the drivers door it will lock all doors. If I use it to unlock the doors it wont open the front passenger door. But if I use the key in the passengers door it locks and unlocks the other doors fine. I’ve tried a BSI reset and still the same. I’m lost now. Thank you.

If you use the key in the driver's door and turn it twice does it then unlock all the doors ? If so you might have the locking set up for it to only open the driver's door on one use and then to unlock all doors needing to be used again. Go through the car menu to find any covering locking.

No matter which setting I have selected in the car either drivers or all doors, using drivers door will not open passengers door. I’m stumped. Clearly central locking is functioning when using key in passenger door but it’s not receiving a signal from unlocking the drivers door.

Possibilities could include a broken wire between the door and pillar or something inside the door at the lock.

Does the central locking work as expected when using the button on the dash? you will need to drop the window down to check the operation from the outside handles.
Definitely check for broken wire in both the front door harnesses at the A pillar. If they are OK will probably be a latch fault, these have the microswitches integrated inside them.

So I’ve just been to check it again using the button on the dash this time. It’s just the same, will lock the passenger door but not unlock it.

Just to add to this that the wiring in the door grommets between main body and door looks fine
