Hi Togehter,
There is a squeaking noise when steering. It is particularly bad when the car is cold. Where should I start looking?

Re: Noise steering
It's often the rubber gaiter around the steering column where it goes through the floor. Spray some silicone lubricant on it.

Re: Noise steering
The spray worked well. The squeaking is gone. But I hear a slight knocking when I steer. Do I have to dismantle the entire steering column?

Re: Noise steering
The problem has gotten bigger. When I steer it now cracks. What would I have to replace?

Re: Noise steering
That's very difficult to know and diagnose from here.
It could be any number of things.
You'd need to get under the car while the steering is being operated, to narrow down the cause.
