C4 Picasso II 2014 all keys lost

Unread post by Antares130 »

Hello. I bought a car, loaded it onto a tow truck, and had the misfortune of losing all the keys because they were left on the tow truck, and I drove away... No immo code card. How can I recover the immo pin?

If it's just the code for coding in keys this can be extracted by a reasonably high spec code reader. My Xtool D8W can do this and I believe the lower spec D7 can as well. I'm sure that other manufacturer's code readers can do this but I have no further information.

But this still leaves the problem of cutting new keys. Unless you've taken a photograph of the key blade, so that a locksmith could duplicate it, you'll also need the code for that. You can order this code from a Citroen dealer and get the programming code at the same time. You'll need the V5 document showing your name and address, which might be a problem. You'll also need personal identity proof such as a passport, driving licence, etc. There's usually a charge which, in my case in the UK, was £25 plus VAT.

I believe you can also order a replacement key through a Citroen dealer. These used to be available pre-cut but you may only be able to get a blank on nowadays - which would need the key cutting code. They're not cheap buying this way, Several hundred £s I think.

In light of this you may think it would be easier to chase the missing keys!
As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.

Is this a regular blade key or push button start?
As said above extracting the immo pin code is easy with the right equipment, most decent spec Autel units will do it. As for the key cutting code, again should be an easy job for an auto locksmith even without a key number, just pick the lock & decode it with a lishi.
If its a regular bladed flip key aftermarket 'universal' keys can be used no problem on these & in my opinion better quality that the OEM remotes.
Its highly likley that an auto locksmith could do this job all in with an aftermarket key cheaper that you could buy a pre cut genuine key & buy the immo code for. And that is assuming you already have a tool that can program the keys.
