Peugeot 205 Diesel 1995 Bosch VE Pump removal problem

Hi guys,

Today I was trying to remove Bosch VE pump from my Peugeot 205 diesel, 1995 to change some leaking seals.

I unscrewed the 4 nuts of the pump, the pump shaft nut, fixed the pump pulley in place with 2 M8 bolts and removed all that was necessary according to the instructions in the manual, however I can't remove the pump.

It moves freely back and forth, and moved around 2 mm in direction of removal but something is holding it back, I think I'm missing something. Possibly the key might be locking it onto the pulley, have run out of ideas.

Manual is in French, but with Deepl image translation I get a pretty accurate result.

I wonder if the pump pulley has to come off and whether it is possible to pull it just enough to free the pump shaft?
