Hi All.
I recently bought a 2007 2.0d Espace to replace my 2.2d which slips its serpentine belt every few thousand miles or so.
Anyway, the 2.0 takes off like a rocket (perhaps a bit of an exaggeration) but the fuel economy is poor compared to the 2.2. I suspect the 2.0 has been fitted with a performance chip. It drives like many chipped cars I’ve driven and you have to be careful changing gear as it doesn’t like low revs.
My question is this: is there a fuel economy chip? Sure it’s fun to leave the Corsa boys at the lights but it’s a bit silly and fuel economy is important on this car.
USEFUL FACTS
ECONOMY. It must be stated that I drive like my granny looking for an address and free wheel a lot.
The 2.2 sees late 40 something mpg on a run and I have even managed 53. I never see less than 40 overall. No cruise control on this car and I usually travel between 58 and 65 on a run.
The 2.0 sees about 42 on a run if I do 50-55 with cruise control on. I have seen late 30 something mpg overall.
Any advice out there?
