Xantia 1.8 16V Idle speed adjustment

Post by shedload »

Hi
I have a 1996 Xantia Dimension which stalls regularly. Can the idle speed be adjusted. I have been told it needs to be done electronicaly by citroen. Is this true or can I do it myself?
Thanks

There is no adjustment on the idle speed [:)][;)]
Whoever told you so, must still be day-dreaming on the old days of carburettor fitted engines [8D]
You have a problem somewhere on the electronics controlling the engine.
Could be the stepper motor that's seized, or the map sensor, - or the trouble potientiometer.
And NO - it's NOT a question of "downloading" a new value to the ECU [:p]

O! OH! seems that this engine either over eving or stalling prolem is getting a little out of hand. Have recently replaced my Xsara's idel control valve, The old one was full of soot and c&&p. Your problem sounds like the MAP sensor may be full of old oil vapour. Not sure where it is ona Xantia but if you can remove it give it a clean out with brake cleaner NOT carb cleaner (to harsh) then let it dry on a warm spot like the aring cupboard with some paper towel underneth its fittings so any oil can drain out.
