207 CC roof / Diagbox questions....

Unread post by jamie-n »

I've got a 2012 CC with roof mechanism fault, when trying to fold the roof all I'm getting is a click from the ECU behind the back seat, I've been through almost everything with it and comfirmed pump works, ECU works, most micro switches tested (apart from in the roof itself) earth straps good, switch good, healthy 12v battery, windows works fine, boot switch operates fine, all parts tested on a fully operational CC I have on loan from a friend.

Now what I'm wondering is if I fix the issue, supposing it was say a micro switch, will the roof then operate or will it still need any faults erased in Diagbox / Lexia 3? (which I don't currently
have), there is no MIL light on the dash, only the fault warning when an attempt is made to open roof.

Obviously Diagbox will pinpoint the culprit here but is it needed if I so happen to fix the fault?

The other question is... If I have to get Diagbox can anyone recommend a sensibly priced option?, I have several old laptops with XP or Windows7 and also have a friend who
is an IT wizard so shouldn't be an issue there. Any help much appreciated.

Surprised at no response to this one but I'll update the outcome just in case it might help anyone in future.

I eventually traced the fault to the right hand sensor that is located inside the latch that is bolted to the header beam above the windscreen, one of the
wires had been crushed and continuity broken internally although the cable plastic was still intact, snipped out the crushed bit and soldered in a new bit of wire,
put it all back together and roof is working again straight away without any need for diagnostics. Happy days.
