DS5 front turn indicator not working

Unread post by heiluri »

Hey all,

My DS5's front left turn indicator stopped working, seems to have a lot of moisture inside. Funny thing is, when it's cold outside, below freezing point the indicator suddenly works :D

To dry it, I tried to pop it out pulling out the small black lid in the corner below the indicator to unscrew the torx screw. But once the screw is removed I am still unable to take out the indicator assembly and cannot figure what else has to be done. Any help from you guys? If the VIN is needed, it's VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]

Thanks for any help!

The unit is replaceable, but you'll likely have to swing it out, which may require access from underneath / or from the wheel arch once the lining is removed in order to detach the connectors.

Not cheap though!

For a future reference look for Citroen Service Box to download

@Djandree

I think the downloadable servicebox is outdated for my DS5 which is from 2016.

But what a pain in the a** that indicator!! We were 2 guys trying to remove it but after removing the torx in the bottom corner and pushing the clip in the engine compartment the thing is still like it's bolted to something

Most of the components are the same or very similar. At least got an idea what to look for))) I would spray it with some wd 40 and heat up with warm air to soften the clip. Plastic during the age getting hard and brittle. So low outside temperature wont help))

Ok, the indicators are out. Yes, both of them. Those disassembly pictures are partly wrong. I loaned a gooseneck camera to see in the engine compartment and there is 2 additional screws that have to be removed in order to take the indicator out.

Took the problematic one out first, it was full of water. Just for the fun of it we took out the other too and surprise surprise, it also has taken water in it, still working though.

This makes me really sad. This awesome looking car is full with problems, really expensive problems. Adblue problems already have cost me around 1500 euros and now this. Makes me regret really badly that I bought this car.

I'll have to try and dry the working one and seal it more with something. This water filled indicator is a lost case I think...

Good for you that you manage to dig out indicators. I would suggest to put them in the box on the radiator with silica gel in it. Silica gel should absorb the moist from the indicators. Maybe will start work again. If not look here for some solution https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005008 ... ry_from%3A

Correction to previous post. Only one screw needs to be removed in the engine compartment, not two as I said. This is for the "scrolling" led indicators which I have.

I dried the indicators with an electric childrens shoe dryer. I put the indicators and hoses from the dryer into a box and timer on 4 hours. Now they're dry as a nun's sexlife :-D One indicator is still working but the other is completely dead.

I'm curious to see these electric children...
