I have changed the fuel filter on my newly acquired C4 using a video on you tube. All went according to plan until I tried to bleed the fuel system of air.
I found the hand pump after some searching as it was not to clear on the video. But after half an hour of pumping the pump still had not gone hard as they said it would. I must add that I did open the bleed valve on top of the filter when I tried it. I expected to see fuel coming out with bubbles, but alas, nothing
I read on the fourum that I should turn on the ignition, count to ten, turn off ingnition count again to ten and repeat ten times. I tried this procedure and did manage to get it to fire but not run.
Getting rather desperate now so can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong please

This should have the long thin primer on top of the engine? It's quite hard to pump, but you should hear the air gurgling back to the tank. It may be the internal valving has failed, and you will need to ring up and external primer. No point in cycling the ignition on this - there's no electric lift pump so it won't do anything.

thanks for your response Richard. Do you know if it is possible to replace the primer pump ?
I have a hand pump that could do it but where to atatch it to the system? on the filter? or in the line before the suspect primer?
I will investigate futher tomorrow

Thanks again Richard, car is now mobile after someone told me to remove the return pipe on the top of the rocker cover (green one) then pump. You need a container for this to catch the return diesal. after collecting 2 litres of milky looking diesal it became clear. I refitted the return pipe, pumped some more and hey presto, it worked!
