charge battery without removing it ?

Unread post by Martin3008 »

Hello Team,

I would like to know if it is possible to charge the battery of the Peugeot without removing the + of it ?
I have a charging device bought from (L i d l) and i think it is smart (hopefully) and it costed around 20 pounds. Here is a link to it.
https://www.amazon.de/-/en/ULGD-5-0-A1- ... B08C2YCQ4S

My question is, could i charge the battery without removing the + , so I could connect the charging cable like this:

My concern is that if i do not remove the + it might overcharge or create issues to the BSI or some electric faults.

In the other hand how long could i keep the car without a battery and would this have any negative effect except the radio and language settings ?

my car is 3008, 1.6 hdi - 2012

* i made some research and found this topic similar to mine:

Thanks in advanced,

Yes, you shouldn't need to remove the +. Make sure you are using a SMART charger which can regulate the voltage accordingly, and always connect the positive + terminal first and the earth to a suitable body part for ground (Negative). Leave the battery terminals connected to the battery.

Wont make any difference if the battery is disconnected for 10 minutes or 10 months.

Should be absolutely fine to charge in situ with this charger.

The amazon link did not work for me but I use a Lidl smart charger that did not cost much and use it without disconnecting the battery. On our 308 the positive I connect to the battery clip as in your photo and the negative I connect to a negative post near the back at the right side when looking from the front designed for this. This post is round about 2 cm in diameter and about 3 cm high.
