Dreaded U1209 Code Gearbox Fault - 207CC

Unread post by Andrew_Harper_GSY »

Hi,

Posting this on behalf of a family member who bought a 207CC some years ago.

They were out doing their weekly shop some weeks ago and when trying to come up a steep hill the car went into limp home mode with no warning.

Warning lights were the snowflake style lights and on the infotainment screen it came up with a message along the longs of "Gearbox Fault".

Sometimes the car is fine but other times it will constantly cut out, surge, limp home, etc. Obviously very upsetting for the owner, who was yelled at for being a poor driver when it wasn't even their fault!

I have a fairly good ECU diagnostic reader and having sat in the car for 20 minutes I have the following codes to share.

General OBD Code Scan (this is a function on the OBD reader that reads general fault codes before doing the full vehicle scan).
P0706$07E9 Transmission Range Sensor A Circuit/Range Performance - Is this possibly a bad sensor that detects what gear the driver is using?

Full Car Scan (using Peugeot code scanning addon)
U1 209 Fault Code Undefined. Please refer to the handbook.
U1 209 No communication with the automatic gearbox incorrect value received
C4C9 Rear Fog Lamp Fault. Open Circuit
F5FF Unexpected re-initialisation fault coming from the BSI. Not characterised.
