C6 front hub carrier conversion? And is that also relevant to C5 X7?

Saw this eBay ad for a C6 today - I'll reserve my thoughts on the particular car for sale etc. (not the point of this post) but I was interested in something mentioned within it and wonder if people know more?

"Has the front hub carrier conversion to the later spec which better protects the bearings in the lower swivel joints of the suspension/steering"

Does anyone know what this is about?
I did a quick Google but couldn't find anything come up.

And as the X7 shares some (many?) suspension system components with the C6, does this have any relevance to the X7?

You haven't provided a link to the Ad Iain...

... but if you're referring to (2): the front hub carrier support, then these are identical part numbers for the C6 diesels and X7 Diesels, with no revised part numbers shown.

However, I posted the relevant text from it (nothing else in the ad is relevant).
So I was correct in thinking the c5 and C6 suspension would be the same - that's good to know.
Brings me back to my other question then - what is this upgrade he's referring to?

He may be referring to (1) - the Front Stub Axle Carrier, which had a replacement part from 25th April 2007, ditto for the X7, but there's nothing available to say what's different.

On the newer versions there is recess in the knuckle where FRIP joint is mounted.

Thanks - so given introduced in 2007, we should be able to say that basically C5 X7's have it and it was the C6 that had the change mid-way through (early C6s can be 'upgraded' to the later spec).

Also....the later C5x7 FRIPP joints had a metal protective washer supplied.... No31....the earlier ones relied on the rubber seal alone

Thanks - so given introduced in 2007, we should be able to say that basically C5 X7's have it and it was the C6 that had the change mid-way through (early C6s can be 'upgraded' to the later spec).

For (1) The C6 had an original part for these (up to 25th April 2007), then was changed once for C6 models from 26th April 2007 on, then for ALL C6 models, there was a further replacement part at some point but no date given.

Obviously, for the C5 X7, given the introduction date of the model, the original part number for this model was the second revised part on the C6, and the subsequent replacement part for the X7 was the same as the third replacement part on the C6.

If you know what I mean...

So to clarify, both C6 and C5 X7 now only have the same latest revised part available for both models.
