2014 citroen ds3 fans not working

Unread post by lauchie »

Hi Guys, thanks in advance for any help/insight given..

i'm having a problem with my fans not working, i had an issue when i bought the car and sent it back for a new resistor/ blower motor control module. it worked fine till recently and it was stuck on hot, blowing on the lowest setting.

i pulled the resistor out and it looked to have burnt out, plus the pins were bent. solution found - order a new one and replace.

today comes and i have replaced said resistor/ blower control module, and it is now not working what so ever, not even a tiny bit of air coming out.

ive checked all connections that i can see and they dont look to be burnt or loose. i have also checked the fuse in the engine bay and that looks to be fine.

any help is appreciated

Is the new part a genuine one from Citroen or a cheaper copy part since copy parts may not be the best. What happens if you fit the old one back ?

i got a decently priced one, i couldnt find any “geniune ones” as such, all places that sold them looked really dodgy, i had to revert to ebay, it was about £45, if i plug the old one back in it, nothing different happens

If you have a volt meter you might be able to check the resistor to see if the new and old are giving similar values for resistance over the various pins. As an indication that may help, I did this on our Cactus when the blower stopped working and posted the values in this topic viewtopic.php?t=72595

As well as resistor faults and wiring/connector faults I have read that sometimes fans can get stuck but if turned a bit by hand they may start working again. If there are no wiring or resistor faults then the blower might need replacing, plus if faulty it could cause resistors to fail.
