Hello,
Under normal breaking (gentle enough to not trigger the ABS) the pedal feels fine and normal, firm, with no sign of dropping, no sponginess and good breaking effort.
Normally when you activate the ABS under hard breaking, you feel the pedal pulse. What we currently have is with each "pulse" the pedal drops slightly. Can I assume this isn't a "feature" of the C3?
There are no warning lights on the dashboard.
I borrowed diagbox? from a friend, but was unable to establish a connection, with "no dialogue" displayed next to each unit.
Does anyone have a suggestion for the next step?
If I replace the ABS unit (valve block and pump) can anyone confirm if I have to use the same ECU as I read they are coded to the car.
Is there a procedure for bleeding the ABS unit, and would I need diagbox to do this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Kyle

Drops slightly and doesn't return (i.e. continues to drop with each pulse)?s**t wrote: 10 Feb 2025, 15:44 What we currently have is with each "pulse" the pedal drops slightly. Can I assume this isn't a "feature" of the C3?
There is - it operates the electro-valves numerous times in sequence etc.Is there a procedure for bleeding the ABS unit, and would I need diagbox to do this?

Diagbox runs the procedure. Some after-market scan tools probably also have the means to do it.

Re: ABS problem
Hi, thanks for the reply.
Yes, the pedal drops more with each pulse. It only returns to a normal height bite point when you let go of the brake and reapply.
I suppose I need to continue down the route of a diagnostics box then, and maybe try just bleeding the unit first. Although I don't know how there would be any air in it.
Cheers,
Kyle

Re: ABS problem
Have a good check for any brake fluid leaks, just in case. if it has rear drum brakes you might need to remove the drums to check the cylinders but if really bad fluid will drip out of the drums. What surface are you braking on to get the abs to work - I have only found this on ice/snow ?

Re: ABS problem
Thanks, I'm sure there is no fluid loss anywhere.
I first noticed it when it was icy. Since then I've been testing it on a muddy track.
The worrying thing is that because you don't normally use the abs, you wouldn't know if had this fault. Who knows how long it's been like this. I'm surprised it hasn't put a warning light on.
