308cc 1.6hdi injector(s) might need a clean.

Unread post by Huskyxantia »

308cc some new issues

Today was regen time , 12 mile motorway run 4th gear just under 3000 revs, got back home ran my diagnostic with 3 injector readings stating there timing was out , how ever before I did the regeneration I made sure there was just under half a tank of fuel by popping some in a local shell garage, then the car stalled twice on start up , which I thought injectors might be dirty, car started on 3rd start up it drove ok & then I drove m25,m23 then back home then ran the diagnostic, which pulled up about 2,3,&4 injector timing being wrong so I thought these 3 might be over fueling to compensate for number 1 being possibly blocked ?

So after about an hour of being indoors we then had to go out & this is were a new noise was heard that sounded like an old transit engine with also suddering engine when opening the bonnet to have a look , which confirms my suspicion of an injector or injectors. If you lift the revs up slightly the engine speed picks up but you can feel it's lost power . I'm totally gutted as this is the first time something big has happend to this great car.

My plan, remove each injector clean them , new copper washers & seals if needed. So will be needing part numbers for these parts , washers & seals.

Sounds like an injector has gone down, no fault codes about that? You can't really clean them, the holes are microscopic.

Note you can't force an active regen by driving it hard, it will do it when it's ready based on the pressures. A longish motorway run may burn off some with a passive regen, but these will happily regen in normal driving.

On the diagnostic it did regen 13 miles back from being plugged in , to be honest it has been for about 5 months staling on start up , the noise happend yesterday after the regen & wanting to go back out again ,so it took a while to get to the noisy stage. Due to Rain I can perform the tests requiered , was told to run the engine then unplug each injector when the noisy one has been found the noise will stop ?
Richard, r.e regen so these will regen with out to much fuss then ? I'm not to worried about the dpf as it's only 13% soot .

Looks like I might do that , I did use an Asda garage about a week ago so I'm thinking there cheep crap has done this , I normally use esso , but where I was there nearest esso was a bit to far for the ammount of fuel left , as I don't like going below the quarter mark . Also just over 140k now so somethings gotta go regarding these things.

So my plan , ohms test , unplug each injector to rule out what's bad , clean them by soaking over night in petrol , done that before on a 2.0hdi picasso worked a treat. Or find offending injector , by replacement, code it to the car , job done ?

Just fitted 4 to a 2.0hdi 3008. Paid 259 euros for a set of 4 reconditioned ones delivered from germany. Looked as good as new ones. Transformed the car running and emmisions.
plus 50 per injector deposit, refunded when they receive the old ones
They come with a full test report and codes to program ECU.
Higly recommend them

Did you have to give them the code on top of the injector to get the correct match ? The numbers on the black part

Nothing came up on the dash , when I scanned the car it did flag up timing of the injectors were out on 3 of them so I'm thinking the rest are over fueling to compensate for the one that's down, but no dash warning light

No, that code is unique to that injectors programming. You can search their site with part number.
I also told them when ordering what engine it was going into. On the site the ones i wanted where out of stock, i clicked on email when back in stock and they had them 2 days later.
They come with a new 20 digit code on the injector and on the paperwork.

Don't unplug the injectors when it's running, they can stay open and hydrolock the engine....

I've just been reading about this online lol. Yes I'm not even going to attempt this, I'm going the ohms testing route, I've also seen a video where the loom to the injectors can get damaged by the air box , think the youtuber called carflix done a video showing this.

Checking out injectors on a website , the deposit scheme has muddled me , one moment it's saying if your going to send them back no need to pay deposit, then before that mentions paying one then getting it back once they get your old one.

Example 1 injector , £149, deposit £30, so do you pay £179 , send your old one back then get £30 back ? Or am i wrong.
