Heater is heating only after switching the car off for a few minutes

Unread post by LeoIglesias »

Hi all,

I have a Peugeot 3008 GT PREMIUM 2019.

Every day I start the car for a good 2-3 minutes before driving it.

This week the heater stopped blowing hot air.

The fun fact is, when I switch the car off for around 5 minutes and switch it on again, the hot air is back working.

Any one could shed some light of what is happening and a possible solution :)

Thank you very much!

Does the blower continue to work and then blow cold air or is it stopping ? Have you got the air con set to auto in which case if the cabin has warmed up it might be turning it off but you could set the temperature a lot higher and see what happens.

Blower is still working blowing cold air.
The cabin is freezing cold and it keeps blowing cold air.
Thanks for your reply.

I think you might need to have a diagnostic to see what the heater flaps/controller are doing. Have you checked if the coolant pipes to and from the heater are hot ?

Does the heat come back if you drive the car for a few minutes?
Your could (depending on equipment level) have an auxiliary electric heating element to give instant heat, and maybe this has failed.

No, it doesn't.

It does come back when I switch the car off for 5 minutes like.

It doesn't happen every day.

Say it work 5 days straight and then suddenly it stopes working and all this happens. Car freezing cold. Stop it, switch it off for around 5 min, then it is back working.

Thanks for the reply!

I have not checked the pipes. Will give it a go.

It seems unlikely it's a water side problem if it comes back after a re-start. Does it have an engine temp gauge and does it read normal? My guess would be the HVAC controls on the fritz somewhere, you would really need to get it on a diag machine when it's playing up and go through the live data to find any points that look out of place which will give you a starting point.
