Xsara Picasso 2.0 Petrol 2001

My Papa left me a car and its a Picasso! But im having several problems with it. (its my first experience with a french car), i took courage and im driving it for a while now. The car have a strange whine noise when in low rotation and accelerating, its kinda strange but it sounds like the transmission in a way? I tried to find some about it but didnt find nothing at all. When Stoping, in transit for example, feels like it will "stall" happens often. Sometimes struggles when i try to accelerate too much, feels like im kicking the pedal. And the Fuel Gauge occasionally says its in "reserve" and when breaking the fog light light up in the panel. The first gear (only with the first gear) when i'll leave my house and im at a hill, it just "take the gear out" when i accelerate, and then go to neutral for itself. That was the problems ive noticed at the time, anyone have some clue of what can it be? Sorry for my bad english...

Note: Papa told me that he had already taken it to several mechanics but none of them could find a solution for it.

Could be the gear box bearings are worn.
