Please help

Unread post by Lai-71 »

Here goes, I have a citroen xsara 1.9D DW8 engine, 2002 reg.

Went for mot recently.. fuel injection pump leak on the
Lucas/ Delphi r8448b391b injection pump. Found & bought another pump Lucas/ Delphi r8448b391c from a 2005 citroen berlingo. Fitted, car will not start. Have had an atuoelec guy look at it, as I was told it needed reprogramming due to immobiliser. First he said car forgotten code.. now says that the key isn't communicating with the ecu. So again, car not starting  please can any one tell me the solution for this to me the car start.
I know its an old car, but it has 67k on the clock & has done me well for 13yrs, it has great sentimental value to me & I would really love to get her working again.
TIA.

IIRC the pump has an immobiliser attached to the pump, so that is likely the issue.

Yes the stop solenoid in the pump is coded, i dont believe you can re code it to a different car.
Do you still have your original pump? if you do you can swap the coded solenoid from you old pump to the 'new' one.

If you dont have it best bet would be to fit a regular 12v operated solenoid in place of the coded one, unfortunately thought both options means removing the pump again & de armouring it.

It may be better to fix your old pump, especially as it is already removed.

Take a look at the topics found in this search, you will probably learn more than you wanted to know....
