3008 1.5BlueHDI Allure 2021 passenger wing mirror fails to open/close or adjust

Unread post by Jonnywinn »

Hello,

The wife went to use the car this morning, and found the passenger wing mirror failed to open when she unlocked the car.
Looking at it, the mirror is locked in the closed position. I've tried opening it with the drivers controls but no luck.

The mirror within the housing cant be adjusted, and the auto adjust in reverse doesn't seem to work.

All of the driver's side mirror controls work as normal (both auto and manual)

Passengers side indicator and blind spot warning work as normal. No obvious damage can be seen, sat on the drive away from the road.

Any Ideas?

Thank you :)

1) The unit is controlled from the driver's side control pad - so the likely problem is the wiring from the 'A' pillar as it enters the driver's front door at the aperture. This is a known weak spot, where constant opening and closing of the door can break the wires over time. You'll need to remove the rubber grommet / sleeve and check the wiring here for breaks. Because the different wires provide power and commands for different functions, this is a likely cause because you have retained other functionality.

2) Possibility two is that the electrical connector underneath the driver's control pad has worked loose. This can happen from slamming the door shut, which if the connector was never properly secured, can cause it to loosen and cause functions loss.
