Vital Peugeot Telemetry box needs to be replaced in our Peugeot 308gt premium 72 plate.. Unfortunately this problem was diagnosed by our local garage last September 2024. But Peugeot UK has been dragging their feet and trying to worm their way out of providing a replacement while under warranty. The latest update 02/02/2025 from Peugeot UK is they have no idea when the vital part will become available. Therefore although it can become dangerous to drive our Peugeot 308 gt plate 72 as far as PEUGEOT is concerned they just DO NOT CARE.
The term "telemetry fault" is not specifically mentioned in the provided context for Peugeot cars. However, a common issue related to telemetry or diagnostic systems in Peugeot vehicles is the " Engine Fault Repair Needed" warning,Also the Telemetry box controls the steering, sat nav, all electrical systems in the car and which indicates potential issues with the engine or its related components. This warning can be triggered by various factors, including problems with the ignition system, fuel system, or emissions control. Emergency reporting of a accident and information to Peugeot about problems.

Re: Vital Peugeot Telemetry box needs to be replaced
What are you referring to by 'Telemetry Box'? If you are referring to the Independent Telematic Unit, then that has nothing whatsoever to do with
'Engine Fault Repair Needed' usually refers to an emissions fault of some description, but a diagnostic will confirm.
Until we have any codes or a proper description of the problem, there's little we can do to help. Your car will be under warranty, so as long as you have it officially recorded as to the fault and allowed them to properly diagnose the issue you should be covered.
The only thing the Independent Telematic unit does is provide Geolocation Services in the even of a serious accident that triggers the Airbags, provides authorisation via the PSA network to install firmware updates and OTA updates, provides 'Connected Services' if you have Connected Navigation or an IVI Telematics system (like Real Time Traffic Info, Speed Cam Alerts and other live services, and of course Emergency or Network Calling using the SOS or Peugeot Buttons, and a few other services.
I think you need to clarify your terminology first so we can understand what you are referring to.Telemetry box controls the steering, sat nav, all electrical systems in the car

I'm repeating what the person from Peugeot.UK told us and also what the local Peugeot garage informed us. So should I tell Peugeot what they said was not true and they should then speak to you?

It won't be the first time!
I'm just trying to work out / get some clarification on what you are on about as what you have said or repeated, makes no sense whatsoever.

Re: Vital Peugeot Telemetry box needs to be replaced
Also why did Peugeot technicians tell the gagage that the Telemetry box needed changing because the information panels went blank and therefore we were unable to read the vital driving information?

Re: Vital Peugeot Telemetry box needs to be replaced
Power Steering: You will have Electrically operated Power Steering on this vehicle and it has it's own ECU - nothing to do with 'telemetry'.
Navigation: The only Telemetry-related thing to Navigation is what I have already explained.
Electrical Systems: Telemetry will have nothing to do with the operation of the other equipment apart from what I've mentioned - Emergency Services / Geolocation and Live Services so can't directly affect other vehicle systems except for information that certain functions may not be operating.
So the last point is likely why you may be getting problems with information displayed or not - however if you are not getting instrument displays then that will be related to something else like the instrument panel cluster / display ECU, the BSI or the Engine Management ECU, which would indicate a CAN Network fault most likely.
The IVI Touchscreen is the main interactive display for interacting with the vehicle and these have been notoriously problematic. I suspect it is likely to be this that is the issue not the Independent Telematic unit....
Reason being that the Touchscreen culminates all the data from the vehicle systems and is used to control many vehicle functions like parking assistance, tyre pressure monitoring reset, Blind spot monitoring, AFIL, Active Safety Braking, Stop Start Operation (and therefore Active Lane Assist) and other such features. So nothing to do with the the actual Independent Telematic unit in the vehicle that is an external communication device with the PSA network. The only thing it does do in regard to the Telematics / Touchscreen / Headunit is provide real time services and the OTA (Over The Air) updates to the infotainment system - and as said one or two of these updates have broken the system in the past on some Citroen and Peugeot vehicles.
If you have an IVI touchscreen problem then that is an entirely different story - hence my note about terminology. Without a functioning Touchscreen / Multifunction display, then it makes it extremely hard or impossible to interact with the vehicle. We have seen many issues with these here - especially after a bricked firmware update that left these vehicles basically 'dumb' with owners unable to operate systems.
Peugeot were able to provide owners with a firmware update to fix the bodged software after some time.

Re: Vital Peugeot Telemetry box needs to be replaced
The car was in the local Peugeot garage for 28 days while the Peugeot technicians scratched their heads and the gargage technician tried to explain to the Peugeot technicians that replacing the telemetry box with a functioning box would infact sort the problem out. It seems that the garage has seen this problem many times in the past and when the box has been replaced this problem has been sorted. Peugeot technicians were trying to find a cheeper way to fix the problem as the telemetry box costs over £1,000 and a lot more with the labour cost. So now we have the car back still not fixed. The garage had permission from Peugeot to order the part from Peugeot, but Peugeot has no idea when the part will become avaliable.
Our car is called a Peugeot 308gt premium misfit as we ordered it from their latest brochure through the Peugeot John Grose, Ipswich. It was suppose to be top of the range. But when it was built many of the extras we paid for were missing. So instead we got a Peugeot MISFIT from Mulhouse. We were going to take it back after the two years and buy a reliable car from a different manufacturer. But we had no option but to pay the cost to buy it outright as the car had this fault. So now we are waiting for a Peugeot to get the job done so we can get rid of this wreck and buy a car.

Re: Vital Peugeot Telemetry box needs to be replaced
18/02 2025 Still waiting for Peugeot to replace the Telemetry box. It seems that at last Peugeot has admitted that there is a problem and might have to recall all the cars that have and will be diagnosed. This could amount to ? Thousands or more. It could be a firmware problem? So far Peugeot has kept it quiet and underwraps because of the massive scale of the recalls and cost.

Thanks for updating us, it interesting to see how it progresses - I'm sorry this is dragging on for you.
It's rubbish when these things take so long and it seems they're reticent to accept liability.
