2008 Citroën berlingo b9 non start

Unread post by Andyboro »

Evening all,
Got a bit of a weird one here i replaced the starter motor on my berlingo this morning and now it won't start, it fired after reassembly ran for 10 seconds and cut out and now it won't start I've had a diagnostic handheld on it and it's displaying P1351 and P2143.
Any help would be really helpful because I can't understand why it won't start now

Is the engine turning over on the starter ? Have you checked all the wiring ?

From this topic viewtopic.php?t=63275 it gives this definition for P2143 which might apply in your case. P1351 is a glow plug one which should not prevent the car starting.

P2143
Control fault of the electric EGR valve: Open circuit
Symptoms:Lack of Power, Noise when cold.
Downgrade Mode: The engine management ECU stops the EGR regulation (*) - The electric EGR valve auto-programming operations are no longer carried out.
(*) The Diagnostic tool will report:
Electric EGR valve control OCR: 0 %
Position repeat: 0 %
Conditions for Fault Returning: When the solenoid valve is controlled: The fault codes are returned immediately in the engine management ECU (If short circuits or open circuits are present).
Suspect Areas: Battery, Electrical harness, Exhaust gas recycling valve.

Engine is turning over okay on new starter but won't start, egr was blanked off years ago, the car was running fine up to the starter motor change, the engine did fire briefly after the starter replacement but cut out after 5-10 seconds

Putting the fault code descriptions along with the P codes is more helpful as most normal people dont know the thousands of codes off the top of their head & saves people having to look them up first before offering any advice.

Did you disconnect any fuel lines at all during the starter replacement? Sounds like it was running off the fuel in the filter & lines then it has sucked the air lock in.

If it has a hand primer have you tried pumping it?
