DS3 abs problem.

Unread post by Bluies63 »

Just joined this group hoping to find the cause of an abs problem on my daughters car.
Car is a DS3 1.6 hi 90bhp. MY2014.
ABS light and traction control light recently came on. Plugged it in and was showing error code. C1331 front right wheel sensor signal fault. I changed the sensor and cleared the error code. Soon as I took it down the road the lights are back on with the same error code. Anything else common with this issue please?

It may not be the sensor itself, see below. There may be some corrosion in the front pivot which incorporates the magnetic poles for the front wheel speed sensor to read, or look at the wiring connections.
Fault Code: C1331
Description of Fault:
  • Right-hand front wheel sensor signal fault.

    Description of the diagnostics
Possibility 1: Consistency between two speed sensors
Possibility 2: Consistency of wheel circumstance
Possibility 3: Consistency of signal periodically disturbed

Conditions of activation of the diagnostics: Vehicle speed higher than 10 km/h
Conditions for Fault to clear: Front door exterior opening control handle; Vehicle speed higher than 20 km/h
Downgrade Modes whilst Fault is active:
  • All the regulation functions are inactive except the electronic brake force distribution (EBFD).
During the regulation of the ABS, the ABS is deactivated on the wheel affected; The ABS is deactivated at the end of the ABS regulation cycle.

    To manage the back-up modes
    - If a front wheel sensor is faulty, the vehicle speed information will be calculated from the valid wheel speed sensor and the rear wheel speed sensor diagonally opposite
    - If the 2 front wheel sensors are faulty, the vehicle speed is calculated from the rear wheel information
    - If 2 sensors are faulty, on the same side of the vehicle, the vehicle speed is calculated using the 2 valid sensors on the vehicle
    - If 3 or 4 sensors are faulty, or if there is a malfunction internal to the ECU, it is impossible to guarantee that the information is accurate and the vehicle’s speed information is transmitted at the invalid value.
    - If the evolute of the tyre is not configured, the information must be transmitted at the invalid value.
Symptoms:
  • Loss of control of the vehicle, no regulation of under-steer or over-steer
  • Braking over-effective
  • Locking of the wheels on emergency braking
  • Vehicle pulled to the inside on a bend
  • Lack of effectiveness in conditions for deploying the emergency braking assistance
  • Minimal locking of wheels in conditions of poor grip
  • Wheel slip
Suspect Areas:
  • Interference
  • Connectors
  • Electrical harness
  • Wheel speed sensor
  • Target
