Power steering rack C5

I recently posted about an eoyls fluid reset and also mentioned I'm looking at getting the steering rack replaced.

One of the Admins, Marc (Givemeabreak) I believe, mentioned that there are two variations of rack for my vehicle, C5 20011 1.6hdi estate.

I did make a contribution as I think it is a worthwhile donation due to the wealth of information provided by this forum by the members.

I did post my VIN as he said he would try and let me know which one was required. I am also struggling to ascertain my engine type as well, getting a bit confused as there are so many variations of the 1.6hdi engine.

My VIN is VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff] . Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

So first of all you should be aware that you have an outstanding after-sales campaign concerning the crankshaft timing pinion:


Reference code: NAH - Timing

The operation involves replacing the timing kit and crankshaft timing pinion, for vehicles with more than 120,000 kilometres or 75,000 miles on the clock and was launched on 08/05/2014.

I suggest you contact Citroen who will do the work for free.

Back to the steering rack:

A word of caution here. Although the racks are available, both the low and high pressure steering pipes are no longer available from Citroen! So be very careful if removing these as they will likely be weakened on removal and refitting may not be easy or can lead to leaks if they won't seal properly.

Pipes

(1) is the high pressure Steering Pipe (part: 4014NV) - no longer available
(2) is the low pressure Steering Pipe (part: 4012V3) - no longer available

Rack

(1) New Steering Rack part: 9801433280, £1,919.72 inc. VAT

This model has a 184 ° Steering Rack Angle.
