Hi I have a Citroen Ds5 2015 automatic, 97k on clock
I was driving on dual carrigeway yesterday hit approx 60mph when an error flashed up saying 'ESP/ASR fault take vehicle for repair' there was also a loss of power where the car refused to go above 50mph and took an age to change gear. Managed to get it home and restart car and the error message went (although I havent since tried to above 60mph)
I have had a tpms fault on my car for a few weeks (presuming a sensor has gone), I took it into Kwik fit this morning for a diag to which the mechanic confirmed two of my tpms sensors are out and need replacing, fine no issuet to sort.
He tested the battery and said it's 'lazy' and the car needs a good motor way run to kick it back into gear.
He also plugged in a diag kit and got the following error codes
5391 ECU
B1224
Uf100
B1223
He said the CAN (controller area network) which is apparently the cars brain isn't responding properly hence the 5391 error code. He said they cannot sort that as it's a Citroen main dealer job.
Can Anyone shed any light if you've had these issues before etc and what can be done to fix them.
Would a new car battery potentially be a fix?
Thanks
ESP/ASR fault

Re: ESP/ASR fault
There's no such code as 5391 ECU for a start. He probably has been using some generic scanner.
The B1223 an B1224 codes relate to the parking assitance, so nothing to do with the ESP system.
A U code is to do with the communications network, but again no such code for UF100!
I suggest you get it to a proper garage as the CAN (Controller Area Network) is the protocol for the actual multiplexed wiring, so is not in itself an ECU / Computer, but only the multiplexed wiring that connects ECUs like the Automatic Gearbox ECU, the BSI and the Engine Management ECU as examples.
There's nothing listed there that relates to the ESP system, hence why I suggest you get a proper diagnostic. Any issue with the ESP system will cause the vehicle to lose some systems like cruise control, ESP features for example. It may only be a wheel speed sensor, but needs proper a diagnostic. Just make sure you take it to someone who knows the car or a dealer.

Is a 5391 fault code not even a thing then? No idea what reader he used he just said those were the codes that came up.
Am I better off taking it direct to a Citroen dealership? I thought most garages would be able to check for issues like these, but guessing Kwik fit aren't everyone's favourite garage
Is there garages that know what they're doing with this kind of thing as opposed to ones that just use generic scanners? I don't even know if there's a proper Citroen service center near me that would do this?

Re: ESP/ASR fault
Exactly - avoid places like this to be honest if you value your car and the contents of your wallet! They do not have the specialist training that dealership technicians have to go on, which is why they usually cost more.
The problem may be that they can only provide some generic codes as they are not 'technicians' and only provide basic services. They probably won't be able to read constructor -specific codes for the more advanced systems, which may be why they haven't provided proper codes and missing the others.
For a DS5 I would get it to either Citroen or a DS Automobile dealership or a decent garage with a good reputation.
