Hi
I'm pondering getting a C5 X 1.2 Shine Plus / MAX trim. Haven't tried one out in the flesh yet, but have a few questions for any owners out there.
A common complaint in reviews is a jerky gearbox at low speeds or in slow moving traffic. How have you found it?
Realistic MPG?
Does the radar cruise control perform well? A few reviews said it could be a bit erratic.
The brochure shows an ambient light strip running across the dash, but I've heard this is missing from the UK specced car - true?
Cheers.

Re: Questions for C5 X owners
Hi,can't help with most of your questions as mine is a PHEV, but definitely the UK models did NOT get ambient lighting. Not even sure it can be strong fitted either.
Apart from the engine difference I like the car, visibility too bad, plenty of room, I found the headlights project a bit too far, but with adjust wheel on no1 their okay.
Could have done with 17" wheels as opposed to the standard 19", but ride is still better than anything else at the price. Wifey love the seats.....

Hi Sloppysod, many thanks for getting back. The ambient lighting is only of passing interest tbh, but it's odd that such a minor cost item, present in many market competitors, makes it to Europe but not here

Re: Questions for C5 X owners
I've driven one on occasion and in common with the new C4, the radar system (models with AUTO boxes) works very well - essentially, after being set, the vehicle will literally slow to a halt or gradually return to the pre-set speed limit automatically, maintaining the relevant safety distance from the vehicle in front. I completed a few trips without having to touch any pedals.
As for specification - these are changing all the time. Vehicles can have different trim options change throughout a single year. Some things may move to optional extras, some features may be added or cut - it all depends on the market and competition as to what changes, so don't rely on a single brochure or an actual vehicle to determine that what is included on this is either standard spec. or that it will be on a model of a different build date.
When looking at a brochure, always check the small print usually at the back or online PDF, that will give the effective date and use that as a guide for models of that year. Having said that, beware that some vehicles with a new registration on a forecourt on seen online may well be 1-2 year old model! They can be late registered to give t he appearance of it actually being newer than it is, and as a consequence the specification will be of the original build date and not the current registration date in these cases.
We've had a few cases here where the owner bough a vehicle under the impression it was newer than it was because of the registration plate and has, I believe since returned it as being mis-sold.

I'd also like to ask about wet belt with the Puretech. Is this a thing of the past now? Is there a belt change required/recommended at a certain mileage, and if so what's the cost? Thanks.

Re: Questions for C5 X owners
Exact details of the wet belt change frequency will depend on the exact engine variant, as some are longer and some require the first change at about 64k miles, but in all wet belt cases the belt would be examined at each annual service assuming you would be having it dealer-maintained.
Only the latest incarnation of the EB engine (EB2LTDH2 UE64 1.2) has a chain fitted, which is a Euro 6.4 engine. All the previous EB engines have a wet belt. I've listed the 1.6 EP6 'Prince' engines as these could also have been fitted to this vehicle, and all these have timing chains.
Again cost of replacement will be down to the variant, so your dealer will be able to advise as it's on a per-engine basis.
EB Engine Variants
EB2LTDH2 UE64 1.2 - Chain
EB2ADTS UE64 1.2 - Belt
EB2ADTS UE63 1.2 - Belt
EB2ADTS_I UE63 1.2 - Belt
EP6 Engine Variants
EP6FADTXD/EU63 1598 - Chain
EP6FADTXHP 1.6L - Chain
EP6FADTXHPE UE64 1.6 L - Chain
EP6FADTXHPD UE64 1.6 L - Chain
