Hello again.
Some more questions on my Citroen C4. It has the 1.5 Blue HDI engine. I know about the timing chain being 7mm and also about the non recalled timing chain and bits upgrade. Are there any other problems with this engine that I should be aware of. I am not having problems and it is a very nice car both to be in and to drive. I am a bit concerned about the recomended mileage before an oil change so I will be going back to the dealer to have that done although that is not due yet. I cannot do that myself a) because I'm old now and gave up sorting out engines a long time ago but also because I live up a hill with a fantastic view but no where flat to service car engines. I do have a garage but even the floor in there has a slope to it and my car doesn't fit through the doors anyway.

I do not know what year your car is but I would stick with the dealer changing the oil since Citroen may help if the cam shaft chain breaks or is showing signs it is failing. A year ago they changed the oil spec as well and since it is 12 months or so many miles if sooner between services you should already have this new spec oil. Note it still has a timing belt but the chain is between the cam shafts.

Thanks Paul, it's a 2021 registration. I found some info on numbers that are engraved on the cam housing apparently, 9812647280 does not have the 8mm chain and 9830580480 does have the 8mm chain. I cannot see any numbers engraved on the cam housing, although without taking a load of stuff off I cannot see very much of the cam housing. That web site also says that the chain cover has bumps to accomodate the extra bits that come with the 8mm chain and mine dosen't have bumps. I think GiveMeaBreak has already told me that. Anyway thanks for answering my query.

Yes, you won't have the 8mm chain, as these weren't fitted at factory until mid to late 2023 models.

Your engine oil should be changed annually or at 20k miles - whichever is soonest and again, I have mine main dealer serviced just in case there's ever an issue with the cam chain, as I'll have full Citroen service history.

The engine is fine as far as I'm concerned, and I'm very pleased with it.
