Hi everyone.
We have a Peugeot SUV 2008 21' engine 1,2L petrol and at 53.000Km the car gave 'Low oil pressure' alarm. The technical representative referred to us that it is a malfunction from the timing belt and perhaps this started to create problem to the engine.
First of all i would like to ask you the followings:
1) Has anybody else face this kind of problem. The technician referred us that it is a problem that 20% of this model face it.
2) How can i find the historical report of the car giving using the chassis number of the car. Is there any link?
3) Greece representative told us that perhaps they will replace the engine. Is the any serial number for the engine and where can i find it in the car?
Thanks in advance

Re: 2008 1,2L Engine touble
You must have the Puretech engine,
the design of this engine, in my view and almost everyone, has been a failure and cost Peugeot millions€ , we call it the “wet belt” engine. The timing belt ( cam belt ) runs in oil inside the engine. The belt degrades and particles block the oil pump pick up filter in the engine sump. This causes low oil pressure, and even engine failure.
As for your questions. You should not have to deal with this yourself. T hat is the Peugeot Main Dealer’s job.
You should leave it up to them. Demand the engine work to be done under warranty.
If the engine has survived the low pressure, the minimum job is a new timing belt the engine sump removed and the oil pick up cleaned out. New oil and filter.
Good luck.
