Heat in the seat - bypass and quickfix?

Unread post by arvid_82 »

Hi guys.

I recently bought a C4 GP2 2014 to replace my older Peugeot 5008. I am all up with repairs (DMF, AC for example) and service, and was wondering if anyone have done a bit of special repair of the heat in the seats?

My drivers seat is cold as ice and I have made some investigation, finding out that one of the two heaterpads in the chair is not working (there is one that you sits on, and one for your back). Since they are connected to each other by a serial connection my ide was to rebuild the circuit and just bypass the one thats broken.

Anyone have done something like that before? Is it possible or will the relay give me some trouble? That would be a much easier job then try to replace the broken heatpad in the chair.

I am a bit unsure if the lower resistance could make som problems, and if so, best would be to add a extra resistance to the circuit perhaps?

Please give me some feedback any ideas is welcome, my wife is freezing up here in the cold winter in Sweden.

I had this problem with my Citroen XM.
The problem is, that the resistance change with the heat, so i used a bulb connected serial with the seat. And it works fine.
Greetings,
Kees.

Hi. Aha, great, thanks for the reply! So you mean that the resistance shouldn't be fixed, therefore the use of a normal bulb with a variated resistance regarding to the input? That sounds like a good idea! If the bulb brokes one day it is easy to replace!

What specifications did you use of your bulb?
