C5 X7 - Vehicle speed info DTCs - U1213 and U2005

Unread post by wurlycorner »

Hi all

So following on from my other post about a fault and DTC with the RH headlight, my X7 also has the following two codes stored:

'Under-inflation Detection (DSG)' ECU
U1213 - Fault In The Vehicle Speed Information Received By The CAN From The ABS or ESP ECU.
Incorrect value received.
Permanent fault

'Suspension' ECU (not the 'Suspension System Control' ECU, listed separately and has no codes)
U2005 - Triggering (Vehicle Speed Receipt Anomaly).

Car seems to drive just fine and has no warning lights on the dash.
There are no other fault codes stored anywhere (other than the headlamp comm code in my other post)

I've only downloaded the codes with my Thinkcar, not gone in to use Diagbox yet - I'd rather have some 'direction' (background info) before I go wading in with that (and more).

Looking on the forum I can see a few posts about U1213, but they mostly seem to be from faults in the electric parking brake and/or steering.
Marc helpfully posted the DTC code set criteria/fault-finding reference info for U1213, but in relation to the electric parking brake.

Does anyone any experience with these codes - in these ECU's - or have the code set criteria/fault-finding reference info and related wiring diagrams for U1213 in the DSG ECU and U2005 in the Suspension ECU, please?

nb: related info, the battery in the car was knackered.
These codes (along with lots of others) were present before I replaced the battery (with a decent Yuassa Silver).
I successfully cleared down everything but these two and the headlamp DTC came straight back, so they are evidently 'real' not related to low battery wreaking the usual havoc.
nb2: Everywhere online listed the wrong battery for my car (2011 C5 X7 3.0 VD Hdi). They listed the Yuassa HSB019 (including Yuassa themselves). This did not/would not fit - it's physically the wrong size (too large). My old battery was a genuine PSA one, so didn't have the standard battery code on it anywhere  . In store, we matched it up against an 096 - slightly lower CCA than the PSA original (740A v 800A) but higher rated capacity (80Ah v 75Ah) and fitted perfectly.
Kind of interesting that the battery in it was dated 2016 - so the original PSA battery lasted only 5 years but the replacement (under warranty?) then went 8.

Thanks

Iain - ignore those faults - they are ghost faults on the X7 and are generated when the suspension ECU is interrogated by Diagbox along with the speed anomaly because the vehicle is stationary - these are always generated together on the X7 with Hydraulic Suspension.

Oh that's awesome!
Thanks very much, Marc.
(Wonder why they never fixed that as a 'bug'?)
