Hi,
We have a issue with our van, when the van headlights are on the brake lights don't come on when the pedal is pressed but when the lights are turned off the brake lights work as they should ? Any help would be much appreciated

Are the correct bulbs fitted in the brake lights & are they fitted correctly?

We got like for like bulbs from the local car parts store, How else can they be fitted ? Push in and turn and check they don’t pop back out

If its a twin filament bulb the pins on the base cap are offset so it can only go in fitted one way however (with a bit of force) they can be fitted 180 degrees out, if one of them is fitted wrong it can often short cause the lighting & brake light circuits to become crossed giving strange lighting faults.Andyb77 wrote: 06 Jan 2025, 21:11 How else can they be fitted ? Has the fault only happened since replacing the bulbs?
Also does the vehicle have a towbar fitted?
